The Plan for Hyderabad's New Campus is Underway, Says Google CEO Sundar Pichai

Among the many innovative and novel steps adopted by Google over the past few years, mention must be made of their latest move on building a huge new campus in Hyderabad. Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google said that this is one of the most important measures that is being adopted by Google in order to give Internet access to the maximum people of India.

"In our attempt to provide internet access to people, we have decided to provide Wi-Fi in 400 railway stations with RailTel. The 100 stations will come online by 2016 end. Mumbai Central station will be online by January," Pichai said at an event.

With the growing efforts of the Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to reach out to the remote in India with the Internet access, this is indeed considered a significant effort on Google's part. However, the plan for a new campus in Hyderabad is being seen as Google's assurance to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. When Modi visited the headquarters of Google at Mountain View, Santa Clara County in California in September, the CEO, Sundar Pichai had an inspiring conversation with India's Prime Minister. In fact, Google had already disclosed its plan for opening a new campus at Hyderabad. Regarding the company's expansion plans, the Google CEO says,
"We will ramp up our engineering investments at our Bengaluru and Hyderabad facilities."
However, Google has not yet disclosed the amount to be spent for investment. As of now, 1500 employees are presently working under this brand. The expansion plan will also augment employment, believes the experts.

On asking about the target behind Google's expansion strategy, Pichai has said that this is Google's three-step approach for the promotion of extended internet access in India. The first is obviously to give people a better access to the full Internet and better connectivity with high-quality software. The second is making available a high-precision Google products for Indians. Third, search engine giant is looking to make it easier for Indians to use Google's global platforms like Android and Chrome, so that there's a massive surge in the usage of these.

Sundar Pichai was pretty overwhelmed, when he said, "This country has given me and Google so much and I just hope we can give much more to the country." He has also added, "A lot of what today is about is how we build products for the next billion Indian users, yet to come online."

According to the current reports, Google is presently, the world’s largest digital-advertising company earning about $3.98 billion net during the quarter ended in September, which was only $2.74 billion a year earlier.
