Families Earning over 10 Lakhs Will No Longer be Entitled for LPG Subsidy, Says Central Ministry

Subsidized LPG cylinders or cooking gas will not be available to the taxpayers who are earning more than 10 lakhs a year, said the Government yester. Following this, a statement of mandate is released from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas that says that the new rule will be implemented from January 2016 onwards.
As per the current regulation, consumers, irrespective of their annual income are entitled to 12 cylinders at subsidized rates in a year. In case, any family needs more than the given amount, need to buy the cylinder paying the market price.

In a recent tweet, Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said, "Government has decided that consumers with taxable income above Rs 10 lakh per year will not get LPG subsidy from January 2016. " He has further said that, this is as per policy of present Government that subsidy shall only be given to poor people who need it the most," he said in another tweet.

As of the recent measures that the Central Government has adopted in order to reduce the acquisition of the subsidized cooking gas, "GiveitUp" campaign has reaped fruitful outcome. Some 57 lakhs of families have voluntarily given up their subsidy, as per the available statistics. According to the Government, GiveitUp campaign is a noble initiative adopted by the Modi Government in order to benefit the poor. Giving up the subsidy can help the government to provide the subsidized cylinders to the poor, who cannot afford a cylinder at the market price. Thus, a family giving up the subsidy can help a poor getting cooking gas at reduced or the subsidized rate.

Earlier this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had urged "MPs, MLAs, ministers, IAS and IPS officers, professors and professionals" to give up subsidy on cooking gas to benefit the poor. "Gas cylinders surrendered by you can be transferred to the poor who use wood for cooking. If one crore people give up their LPG subsidy, one crore poor people will benefit," Modi said in Bengaluru.
Statistics reveal that the subsidy, thus saved from the 'GiveitUp' campaign went into giving connections to lakhs of poor families who were hitherto dependent on the difficult means of kerosene, coal, fuel wood or cow dung.

Due to a crash in global energy prices, the price variation between subsidised and non-subsidised LPG cylinders has significantly declined over the past couple of months. This also has a drastic impact on the number of families usually entitled for the subsidised cooking gas. The latest measures of the government is expected to bring significant well-being of the country.

As of now, the non-subsidised cooking gas costs Rs 606.50 a cylinder in Delhi, and subsidised LPG costs Rs 417.82 per 14.2-kg cylinder.

The Juvenile Release Of The Nirbhaya's Case Stirred Up Sentiment In All Levels

The recent release of the juvenile convict of the Nirbhaya case has brewed up serious controversies in
the various social segments, thus encouraged Rajya Sabha to pass the Juvenile Justice Bill, which is likely to bring essential amends in the Juvenile law, that will include similar trial procedure as adults for the juveniles belonging to the age group 16 and 18, if they are accused with heinous crimes like murder and rape.

The Congress and the Samajwadi Party, who were previously walked in the opposite direction is apparently bowing down to the rising sentiment.  Following this, they had not only withdrew their bill, but had also given their consent for the bill to sail through. The Juvenile Law has also won support from the Trinamool Congress, with TMC lawmaker Derek O' Brien saying that if Nirbhaya had been his daughter, he would have shot the rapist to death. On the contrary, the members of Left, walked out, with Sitaram Yechury saying legislations should not be passed on "sentiments alone".

In addition to the political parties, noted newspaper Times of India has taken proactive steps to support the law and the concept that says, a convict, irrespective of his age will be tried according to the severity of offense, not just their age.
The new law also protects the rights of juvenile victims, apart from taking care of the issues relating to adoption as well as foster care.

The presence of Nirbhaya's parents in the Rajya Sabha made the case even more difficult and strong at the same time. They were present in person in the visitors' gallery during the five-hour debate in the Rajya Sabha before the bill was passed by voice vote. They even met the Congress President Rahul Gandhi and minister of state for parliamentary affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.

According to Maneka Gandhi, who herself introduced the  bill  had made a plea saying the amendments in the law will put a check to the  juvenile crime, which is reportedly the most affected age group.

"It's a compassionate bill which will at the same time act as a deterrent," she said. However, the  minister also said that the  juvenile convict will not be directly transported to the jail, instead he will be checked if he has committed the crime in  the frame of mind of an adult  by the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB).

"The bill was started by you (Congress), finished by us but it is a matter of the whole House," the minister said.

The Plan for Hyderabad's New Campus is Underway, Says Google CEO Sundar Pichai

Among the many innovative and novel steps adopted by Google over the past few years, mention must be made of their latest move on building a huge new campus in Hyderabad. Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google said that this is one of the most important measures that is being adopted by Google in order to give Internet access to the maximum people of India.

"In our attempt to provide internet access to people, we have decided to provide Wi-Fi in 400 railway stations with RailTel. The 100 stations will come online by 2016 end. Mumbai Central station will be online by January," Pichai said at an event.

With the growing efforts of the Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to reach out to the remote in India with the Internet access, this is indeed considered a significant effort on Google's part. However, the plan for a new campus in Hyderabad is being seen as Google's assurance to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. When Modi visited the headquarters of Google at Mountain View, Santa Clara County in California in September, the CEO, Sundar Pichai had an inspiring conversation with India's Prime Minister. In fact, Google had already disclosed its plan for opening a new campus at Hyderabad. Regarding the company's expansion plans, the Google CEO says,
"We will ramp up our engineering investments at our Bengaluru and Hyderabad facilities."
However, Google has not yet disclosed the amount to be spent for investment. As of now, 1500 employees are presently working under this brand. The expansion plan will also augment employment, believes the experts.

On asking about the target behind Google's expansion strategy, Pichai has said that this is Google's three-step approach for the promotion of extended internet access in India. The first is obviously to give people a better access to the full Internet and better connectivity with high-quality software. The second is making available a high-precision Google products for Indians. Third, search engine giant is looking to make it easier for Indians to use Google's global platforms like Android and Chrome, so that there's a massive surge in the usage of these.

Sundar Pichai was pretty overwhelmed, when he said, "This country has given me and Google so much and I just hope we can give much more to the country." He has also added, "A lot of what today is about is how we build products for the next billion Indian users, yet to come online."

According to the current reports, Google is presently, the world’s largest digital-advertising company earning about $3.98 billion net during the quarter ended in September, which was only $2.74 billion a year earlier.

India Supersedes China When It Comes To Pollution

According to an evaluation on National Air Quality Index (NAQI) released by the Central Pollution
Control Board (CPCB) reveal that 15 out of the 17 cities in India are being monitored for not meeting the ambient air quality standard. At the same time, Greenpeace India, also reveals that the infrastructure to monitor air pollution in India also depicts its wretched condition, despite the severity of the pollution.

As an example to point out the poor air-quality monitoring stations in India, the CPCB has mentioned the number of the high quality monitoring stations in the big cities of Europe, US, and China. In fact, China has 8 stations in its major cities, all of which has an excellent quality to monitor and keep pollution at bay. In India, there is an average of just 2.5 stations across the only 17 cities.

As per the data of the evaluation, cities like Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Luck now, Faridabad is topping the list of the most polluted regions between July to November. In fact, the condition of Jaipur is abysmal and the air quality remains poor, in fact, much below the desired level almost every day. So is the condition of Delhi, Faridabad and Patna.

India started using AQI index (the standard to monitor daily air quality) just last year, while on the other hand the big cities of the countries have been using it for a long time. Several pollutants that are being considered the main culprits are CO, PM 2.5, NO2, Ozone and SO2 are monitored as part of the AQI. "As the political capital - and indeed, the most polluted of all cities - the bad air in Delhi gets the most attention. But, scratch below the murky surface, and you will find concentrations of PM2.5 in several other cities - Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Muzaffarpur and Faridabad, among others - that would justify the triggering of a 'red alert', like Beijing does. Even the government's own largely inadequate NAQI data reveals that 23 of the 32 stations across India are showing more than 70% more of the national standards," said Greenpeace India campaigner Sunil Dahiya.

In relation to this, something that is always required to be mentioned is Beijing has a four-level alarm system that seeks exercise restrictions on outdoor activities and the use of personal vehicles, emissions from factories and power plants, if the air quality is extremely poor.

Dahiya added, "The NAQI, in its present form, fails to acknowledge the scale of the problem. Data is only available in 17 cities, which is a shockingly low number considering the size of our country. There is an immediate need to diversify and upgrade the manual stations to ambient air quality monitoring stations feeding data to the online NAQI portal. The existing system needs to include short- and long-term solutions and advisories."

In this circumstances, Greenpeace is giving a call for an ambitious and systematic Clean Air action plan with highly focused targets and clear timelines. In addition they are also looking up to maintain the health standards of the country. However, this is a grand campaign, the results of which will take years to come.

Japan And India Signed Pact On Bullet Trains And The Nuclear Deals Too

The much talked about historic memorandum on civil nuclear cooperation finally reached its
culmination on  Saturday,  as the two  countries signed a  pact on this potential partnership. This strategic partnership is expected to take Defence to a new level.  Following this treaty, it's also agreed that these countries will play a  significant role for defence production  and technology transfer.

Here's an excerpt of the document

"The two governments confirm that the Agreement will be signed after the technical details are finalised, including those related to the necessary internal procedures."

Besides this MoU, the agreement signed by Shinzo Abe and Narendra Modi, also talks about the high-speed (bullet trains) railway between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.  There are 14 other pacts signed across sectors. Stated by the experts, this treaty between Japan and India on the potential nuclear co-operation reflects the former's unflinching trust on India's non-proliferation record and voluntary moratorium on further nuclear tests.

If reports are to be believed, the conducive ground for this much awaited nuclear treaty was formed long before.  During the visit of Abe, who is betting heavily on India as a partner for maintaining stability in Asia,  Japan's had  almost made its  mind  to sign this treaty. However, over this period of time, Japan  was apparently insisting on the tougher safeguards, though  India  was comfortable with the former template based on Indo-US nuclear deal. According to the officials , two countries have had  exhaustive  negotiations on the issues of nuclear non-proliferation, reclaiming rights of used nuclear fuel, tracing  and scrutinizing clause and nuclear tests. Informed by the spokesperson of Japan's Foreign Ministry, Yasuhisa Kawamura, Abe has emphasized on the importance of a world free of nuclear weapons. The nuclear co-operation between the two countries, thus does not promote nuclear bouts.

"The memorandum is a shining symbol of a new level of mutual confidence and strategic partnership in the cause of a peaceful and secure world," Modi said. The treaty comes with a two way agreement- In the first place, it involves the Transfer of Defence Equipment and Technology and secondly, it involves Security Measures for Protection of Classified Military Information that strengthens foundation of deep strategic ties. The pact also involves a continuation on the US-2 amphibian aircraft.

Life in Chennai is at Stake as the Floods Worsen

The continuous rains over the past few days has turned Chennai into a perfect disaster zone. With submerging homes, rail tracks, roads, and the airport runway too, waterlogging seems to take an appalling shape everywhere. The Government of India along with the intervention of the State Government have already lent a helping hand to rescue the victims. The central force has been deployed in the affected areas to carry out with the rescue work and distribute food.

As the condition deteriorates, schools, shops, factories and offices were immediately shut. Over an extended period of time, the city itself is completely detached from the rest of India due to the no supply of electricity and inactive phone lines. According to the leading weather stations, India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city has already experienced 249.1 mm and 345.1 mm of rain, respectively, which is the highest rainfall recorded in the past 100 years..

With heavy rains expected over the next three days and the deal toll rising at a significant high, the government has adopted several contingency measures to deal with the situation. The State Government has already issued an advisory to private firms to declare holidays for their employees on December 3-4 in Chennai, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur.

As per the reports, around 2,200 people in Chennai are already rescued from flooded areas by army personnel.Meanwhile the the navy, has deployed pressed divers and boats into service. 7 helicopters are also underway to Tirupati.

Services at banks and ATMs were also closed due to the shortage of diesel affecting their generator back-ups. “For the first time in history, the water level of the Adyar river has reached the bridge. This is the worst spell of rains that I have ever seen in this city. We called the police and the Chennai Corporation in the morning to appeal for immediate rescue. But they have not turned up yet,” said R Gopalan, a resident of Vasudeva Nagar in Jafferkhanpet.

The rescue efforts of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Navy are already in operation in the worst hit areas- Mudichur near Tambaram and the banks of the Adyar river in the city. In addition to that shortage of diesel and floods also affected the media houses, with some TV news channels and newspapers resulting into the suspended operations.

According to the Tamil Nadu government officials,  about 2 lakh food packets were distributed and hundreds of people are provided medical assistance. Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has already attended for  an aerial survey of the affected areas.

Renault Kwid: A Real Run for Money to the Small Cars in India

So what if the Indian market is flooded with the small cars that are making huge profits these days? The all new Renault Kwid is on its way to give all the popular small cars a tough competitions. Even the Maruti Alto, which has so far been considered the most happening car of the scoop is going to get a real run for money with the arrival of Renault KWID.

Here's a snapshot of what the car has squeezed in it.

Renault Kwid Specs:
Engine: 799cc
Power: 53bhp
Fuel: Petrol
Transmission: 5-speed manual
Torque: 72Nm
Claimed Mileage: 25.17Km/l

The Very first thought
It's the body. That impressive structure is likely to amaze you at the very first sight. It's not a simple entry-level compact car, rather the very first sight will make you feel that the car is pretty big. It's adequately big when considered from the aspect of its price. And then the features. It has got nearly all the features that a luxury high-end car is supposed to have. No other cars in this segment offers a multimedia system with satnav, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, front power windows, on-board trip computer, and a gear shift indicator. Would you expect more at this price range?

The Space is Spacious

You are sure to be surprised as you get inside it. It's incredibly spacious compared to the cost. It has got pretty comfortable front seats and there's ample leg space around the rear. Though the rear seats suffers from scarce under-thigh support the boot, at 300 litres, is the biggest of all small cars of that price range. In fact, it's even bigger than the i20's. Talking about the space, mention must be made of cubbyholes, two glove boxes, a large door pockets and sufficient space in the centre console.

The Engine
It's incredibly effective and that's the reason why a brand new engine placed just under the roof is giving so much of benefits. The engine is 3 pot unit with 799cc. The power output it offers is 53bhp, and torque is rated at 72Nm. But, the interesting part is, there's adequate power, despite the numbers seeming low on paper. Power delivery is linear, and short gearing is also slow, which helps in making a smooth journey with it.

The performance
The Kwid rides well even after considering the horrible conditions of most of the Indian road. While the potholes can be tackled with ease , the bumps can be comfortably filtered out , thus making the journey easier. The rear suspension is soft. Downside of the soft suspension and high ground clearance of 180mm is the body roll. There's plenty of it, and no other car of its size and time can't offer these high-end specification.

The ultra-light steering is great that can automatically help in manoeuvring through taut city spaces and while parking, but for highway speeds, it's important to keep in correcting it constantly. Experts say that during speed, the Kwid feels more safe than Alto.

Kwid Looks Nice
The SUV-inspired design and beautiful styling makes it an eye-candy. In terms of performance it's better than. The cladding across the sides and reinforces the appearance.

And finally the Price…
There's no doubt that the pricing strategy of Renault Kwid is quite aggressive and Renault will go extremely aggressive on the pricing. For all the SUV-like styling, all the features and a new engine and platform the makers of the car would have asked for more . Kwid is just 3.53 lakhs. No wonder, you are getting a good value for their bucks.

So, want to buy a Renault Kwid car now? Go for it right now , but without spending a dime. All you need is to play and win the New Year Dhamaka game at Foreseegame.com. And the Brand new Renault Kwid will be all yours.

Mark Zuckerberg, Now a Father Donates All Money For a Better Future Of His Child

Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan has recently announced that they are going to donate nearly all (99%) of their wealth for the social cause, as an act of celebration of their new baby daughter, Max. Last week, when the daughter arrived in their life, the duo had decided to do something significant for the society that will help solving some of its problems.

On his Facebook post, Zuckerberg has announced that over time, the family will done 99% of the Facebook stockholdings to some pressing social causes that involves disease, education and others. The couple is looking to build up a strong social community and has pledged already to give away half their assets during their lifetime. However, they have not yet spilled the details of the specifics.

Recently, they are busy with their new found organization called the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, that is essentially designed to pursue the social goals through a slew of charitable donations, private investment and promotion of government-policy reform. "Like all parents, we want you to grow up in a world better than ours today," the 31-year-old social media mogul and his wife scribed in a letter to their daughter, which they also posted on Facebook. Such an announcement on Zuckerberg's part surely stunned the charity world. According to the president of the nonprofit Center for Effective Philanthropy ,"It's incredibly impressive and an enormous commitment that really eclipses anything that we've seen in terms of size."

As of now, the new organization will function as a limited liability company, more specifically a non-profit foundation. "They want the most flexibility and they are going to use a wide variety of activities to achieve their mission," says Rachael Horwitz, a Facebook spokeswoman, said via email. "So in that way this is not a foundation nor is it entirely charitable."

Though there's nothing new in their act of donating money, yet right now investing such a huge amount is surely a concern. Initially Zuckerberg has also showed an interest in influencing public policy. Along with that, Zuckerberg has also encouraged his other properties at Silicon Valley to take part in his initiative. According to a letter to their new born daughter, their only goal is "advancing human potential and promoting equality." It seems, he has already reached his goal. Zuckerberg has also added "We must make long term investments over 25, 50 or even 100 years. The greatest challenges require very long time horizons and cannot be solved by short term thinking."

According to the other sources, the Facebook co-founder is one of the world's wealthiest men, who
has already had quite a few significant contributions to his credit. mention must be made of the previous donation amounting to $100 million (roughly Rs. 665 crores) to public schools in Newark, New Jersey, and pledged $120 million (roughly Rs. 798 crores) to schools in poor communities of the San Francisco Bay Area. They've also given $75 million (roughly Rs. 498 crores) to the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, where Chan did her medical training.

However, while making his announcement about the donation, he has also said that such an attempt will never delimit his states as the shareholder of the company. In fact, Mark Zuckerberg will solely control the shareholder of the company in future. According to the sources, he will donate an amount more than $1 billion of Facebook stock every year for the next three years

CAB Finds Its Guardian Again, The NEW President Is Former Captain Sourav Ganguly

There's no doubt that the eligible heir to the President's chair of CAB at this point of time is none but our own Dada, Sourav Ganguly. And that's why, the news of his appointment as the new CAB chief stirs so much of happiness in Bengal as well as the nation. The celebrated and probably the most successful among the Indian captains till date, Sourav Ganguly is a "Dada", in the truest sense of the term.

Following the death of the former and the most successful CAB chief of the time, Jagmohan Dalmiya, there had been so much of uncertainty on choosing the most eligible successor. However, the suspense ends with Bengal's CM Mamata Banerjee (with the graceful presence of the CAB officials) announcing Sourav Ganguly as the new President.

During this phase, there's been another development with Dalmiya's son replacing Sourav Ganguly as one of the two joint secretaries of CAB. However, the other joint secretary Biswarup Dey will continue as treasurer.

Regarding the announcement, Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee has said that she never wanted to come in the decision of the CAB, which is a sovereign body and had all the reins in their own hand, However, she finds herself fortunate while announcing the name of the new CAB President. At the same time she has also said that there was no political intervention in the CAB's decision.
During the splendid evening following the announcement, the CM along with the interim sports minister Arup Biswas has said, " We are going through a big crisis after his (Dalmiya) unfortunate death. Someone has to head CAB. Dalmiya loved cricket so much. So it's important that the people closed to him (should run the show)... cricket family is most important. My only request to all of you that be together, remain united and take the Jaguda's legacy forward."

After all this hullaballoo following the announcement, the 43-year-old Ganguly said on his part, "Anything in life is a new challenge. I am particularly happy that Avishek is coming into administration as it is a very emotional time for him. Myself, Biswarup, Subir would all work together and there won't be any problems. We have 117 (actually 121) members and we will decide the way forward."

However, such a scenario puts Dalmiya junior as a big gainer as he managed to get into a respectable position in this whole episode, even without having the least of the knowledge. Such a decision was likely to create quite a big controversy, however it was subdued following the government's intervention. Banerjee said that "After Dalmiya's demise, the CAB needed a guardian and hence these decisions have been taken till the association's elections in July, 2016."

As for the other joint secretary Subir Ganguly, he ius quite happy with the decision. He said, "We all are really happy and more so because we could bring Abhishek to the cab cricket administration."

Cricket Loses One Of Its Finest Administrator On Sunday Evening

"He wanted to go back home after recovery", said DR. Anil Mishra, the doctor who was shouldering the responsibility of treating Jagmohan Dalmiya, the finest of the administrators, Cricket has ever got.  The demise of the 75 year old, the veteran Cricket Boss, thus leaves an unfathomable void in the Cricket world forever. An opener during his stint as a club cricketer, Jagmohan Dalmiya has carried his bat through till the last breath.

An optimistic soul, this man has never learned to leave battlefield without trying his potential.  No wonder, he is the only reason behind Indian Cricket acquiring a glare of limelight in the international panorama.

Following his complain of chest pain and breathing troubles, Dalmiya was rushed to the BM Birla Heart Research Centre at around 9 pm on Thursday night. Though doctors monitored his progress throughout, his condition deteriorated on Sunday. As the news of his admission spreads, former India captain Sourav Ganguly also rushed to the from his Behala residence. West Bengal's minister in-charge of sports Arup Biswas also rushed to the hospital as soon as he came across the news.

"He was responding to treatment but became unstable in the morning. Our medical board decided to conduct an angioplasty late afternoon. He was stabilized but after that there was a massive gastrointestinal haemorrhage which led to a lot of bleeding. He succumbed to the bleeding at 8.45pm," said Dr Mishra,  a  leading  doctor of the  medical  team formed for Mr. Dalmiya. In his official medical bulletin,  he has confirmed of two stents that were planted in his heart.

The BJP Joined Mr Manjhi In Bihar, Raged A Section Of The Party

The BJP government seems to have introduced outstanding developments in the state of Bihar, as is evident from the distribution of "mithai" among each other. On account of successfully completing the major milestone in terms of their alliance in Bihar they celebrate by feeding sweets to each other.

However, Chirag Paswan of LIP has said about the shock that he was in following the way the government has divided up the seats for election that is going to commence from the next month. "Our cadres expressed their surprise, we were not given what we had been told," replied Mr Paswan, when asked about his reaction about this. As a matter of fact his father, Ram Vilas Paswan, is already a union minister. According to the Chirag Paswan, his party will always remain "united", in every situation, no matter what happens. In this scenario, if his party decides to allocate seats to another partner, Jitan Ram Manjhi, they might have some reason. In addition, he is reportedly being assured by other leading BJP leaders that any concerns regarding this issue will be addressed.

History reveals that the BJP has always won the unwavering support of the upper caste voters in Bihar. For this upcoming election, where the party is all set to relocate Nitish Kumar as Chief Minister their immediate support goes to Mr Paswan and Mr Manjhi, as they are the ones with enough influence as the Dalit leaders and at the same time have competing claims of popularity.

Yesterday, when Mr Manjhi was 20 seats after he rejected a smaller portion, Mr Paswan was alloted 40 seats considering his popularity in the region. In earlier negotiations, as sourced from the BJP interiors, Mr Manjhi had reportedly said that Mr Paswan is being over-compensated. Manjhi has added that he did not win a single seat in the last Bihar election and that's the reason why party is doing all these in his favour. On the BJP Party's front, it's being said that BJP government is doing that in favour of the party. Quite obviously, the BJP has kept 160 seats for itself, while allocating 23 to Upendra Kushwaha, a leader of the Koeri backward caste.

Such an act on BJP's part is seriously commendable as they are putting up a formidable competition by taking on the trio of Nitish Kumar. Nitish Kumar, the current CM of Bihar is all set to serve the state for three terms consecutively. However, BJP is trying to put up a tough competition to him.

As for the BJP's latest trump card, Mr. Manjhi, hails from one of the most backward caste of Dalits or Mahadalits. Later, he became the leader of Mr Kumar's party and promoted as the Chief Minister, while Mr Kumar took responsibility for his party's catastrophic result in the parliamentary elections in Bihar. Mr Manjhi was excluded then who then set out to found his own party.

However, after all turmoil, the BJP has joined hands with Mr. Manjhi and his party in Bihar for some productive results in the upcoming election.

The Business Baron Ratan Tata Is Up For The 14th Investment: This Time The Food Start Up, Holacef

It seems Ratan Tata, the chairman emeritus of Tata sons is on the investment spree.  His 14th investment   backs a  food tech start-up Holachef. Though the sum is yet to undisclosed, the elated Saurabh Saxena, the CEO of Holachef has already expressed his gratitude to the investor. Pretty optimistic about the future of their start-up, Holachef CEO said, "Ratan Tata’s name and body of work is synonymous with trust and consumer focus. With his guidance, Holachef is sure to become a leader in the food-tech space, with customer delight at its core. By winning his trust, we have raised the bar of quality and excellence for ourselves.”

Launched in September 2014 by Saxena and Anil Gelra, the tech-food start up, Holachef has already found a potential customer base in Mumbai and more recently in Pune. Sources reveal that the company so far has raised a Series A Funding that accumulates Rs 20 crore in a round in June 2015. Initially  in February 2015, the organization  also acquire  funds of 2 crore from India Quotient.

Holachef's  business  was launched keeping  in mind the macrocosm of the retail consumers of Mumbai. In September 2014, Holachef was established in Mumbai’s Powai area and is also operating from Pune. And to pick up the pulse of the  21st century consumers, Holachef  has also got their own website (www.holachef.com) and mobile app on Android and iOS.

For Ratan  Tata, this  is indeed a  landmark event of his life. This is the 14th startup investment he has made in his personal capacity after his retirement in 2012. This simply reminds us of the time when Mr. Tata said during his retirement that  he wanted to reach  out to  the people  with the  goodwill, trust and expertise that the brand TATA has created over these years. In addition, he also had given his reassurance commenting about his wish to give a strong push to the new potential businesses with whatever they require.

Till date, the brand  TATA has  encompassed a  wide range of sectors from salt to software conglomerate, from health to women empowerment to technology. When asked to comment on his investment rationale, Mr. Tata said, "What I look at while investing in startups is the quality and intelligence of the entrepreneurs” Probably that's a reason for  joining Kalaari Capital, a venture capital fund, as an advisor.

Following his acceptance speech at the Rockefeller Foundation where he received the Lifetime Achievement Award, Tata revealed that any businesses, irrespective of its size should try to make a difference in places where they operate and make sure that their effort helps in making the community prosper. In addition, he has also said that a  startup must echo the qualities that he stands for. It involves a  a sense of responsibility, passion, commitment and persistence.

And  perhaps that's  the  reason,  why Tata's  14th  investment if  for a  young food tech start-up  Holachef.

The Modi Government Is Resorting To Sports To Curb Radical Politics In Kashmir

In spite of being such a scenic beauty, the paradise of the Earth Kashmir is infested by terrorist attack
and the repeated display of extremist attacks in order to be a separate Islamic state. However, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has adopted wonderful measure to deal with the growing threats. The NaMo government is now turning to sports to keep radical elements at bay.

Modi's take on curbing the radical politics on the demand of separate Islamic state in Kashmir indeed demands appreciation, but, it's difficult to say how far it will reap positive results. The main objective to incorporate sports for dealing with the extreme situation is to keep young men away from getting into radical politics and spoil their life.

In order to implement this measure at the earliest the Home Minister Rajnath Singh chaired a meeting ten days ago with the Sports Minister. Sources said, during the meeting the former has strongly emphasized the part of involving the young folks of Kashmir in sports. And for this purpose, they have almost created a plan to prepare a comprehensive strategy, so that the youngsters in Kashmir can take active part in the same. Cricket and football have been identified as the two most popular sports to be included in the plan.

In an interview, Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said, "Sports would be a good way to positively motivate the youth... In our first budget, under the leadership of PM Modi, Rs. 200 crore was allocated to Jammu and Kashmir. This shows the Centre's special interest in Kashmir."

As per the decision, the NaMo Government has already walked an extra mile to improve the conditions of different stadia across the state.Several measures have also been adopted to deal with the training facilities in the state with utmost efficiency. And the best of all is the proposal for putting up talent hunts and competitions across the length and breadth of the state, so that the local talent can be extensively involved.

According to the Sports ministry, such a revolutionary step on the government's part is indeed the need of the hour. Sports not only will keep them away from getting into radical politics, but can also imbibe the spirit of brotherhood among the youngsters. It's a way to make them think that they are not separate and that they are the indispensable part of the United nation called India.

It's been decided in the meeting that sports and similar activities in the state will give them a good exposure and at the same time they will be able to participate at national sporting events.

"This will help these youngsters from Kashmir explore the rest of their country and will help in integrating," said a senior government official.

Considering the present socio-political condition of Kashmir, it's been deemed that sports is certainly a good way to connect with and engage the young people. And the Modi government is all set to adopt this approach with a positive note.

Sangakkara Bids Adieu To The International Cricket

It seems, Sri Lanka's batting hero Kumar Sangakkara has no qualms about his approaching
retirement, says reports. Sangakkara, The veteran cricketer of the Sri Lankan squad is turning 38 in October and is going to end his international career soon.  And he is left with simply two Test matches of the three-match series signed against India that's going to start on Galle on Wednesday.

Kumar Sangakkara, the left-hander, is one of the most revered cricketer in the history of test cricket. He is also the leading run-getter among those still playing.in an  interview  38 year old Sangakkara said "37-year-old Rangana Herath in the Sri Lankan team and Surrey team-mate Gareth Batty, also 37, were the only ones who matched me in age.  The rest are mostly 26," he said. "I feel like a dinosaur in their company. It convinced me this was the right time to go."
Sangakkara, who has so far been the most dependable member of the Sri Lankan squad is still holding the fifth position in the all-time scorers list headed by India's Sachin Tendulkar.

Needless to say, 12,305 runs and 38 centuries by the cricketer is far exceeding the second-placed Alastair Cook of England, who has only 9,223 runs and 27 hundreds to his credit. Defying his age, Sangakkara has proved himself best with his excellent feats over the past year. His recent hits include 203 against New Zealand in January, after scoring a sweeping double century against Pakistan and 319 against Bangladesh last year.

And what's more! Sangakkara became the first batsman to hit four consecutive one-day centuries in the World Cup in Australia in February-March, following which Sri Lanka entered into the quarter-finals.

In an interview Sangakkara said, "The reason for the two and two split, even though it is not ideal, was the agreement I had with the previous selection committee when I was discussing my future." He also added, "I had plans to retire immediately after the World Cup, but they wanted me to try and play a bit more Test cricket. Four Tests was all I could offer them and they were okay with that."

He has also said that delaying his retirement plans would be nothing but delaying the future of some other potential players. Though, it will be quite a tough time for the Sri Lankans team to carry out without such a cricketer, but they have full respect for the Sangakkara's  decision.

Google To be a Subsidiary Business of the Alphabet Inc.

Google is all about surprises since its inception and this time its way more surprising than the earlier times. Google is now becoming the subsidiary of Alphabet. Pretty surprising! Isn't it? After all, how can the tech giant like Google can be someone's subsidiary? But, the news is true to the best of our knowledge as the company has announced that they are planning to rebrand itself as Alphabet – a new holding company and Google ( as it exists) will be the largest wholly owned subsidiary of the Alphabet.

According to the current CEO Larry Page, he would be appointed in the same post in the new holding concern Alphabet while Sundar Pichai, currently a senior vice president of the internet businesses, will hold the post of CEO of Google. And from now onwards, Alphabet Inc. will replace Google as the publicly traded entity and henceforth all shares of Google will automatically convert into the same number of shares of Alphabet, while resuming the same rights.

As said by Larry Page, the current CEO, “For Sergey and me this is a very exciting new chapter in the life of Google — the birth of Alphabet.” He also added, “We liked the name Alphabet because it means a collection of letters that represent language, one of humanity’s most important innovations, and is the core of how we index with Google search.”

But, the best part is that the Alphabet and its business will be no different from that of Google and it will continue with the search, maps and YouTube, Gmail along with businesses ventures like Fiber, Nest and investing arms like Google Ventures that are managed separately so far by Google.

In the new structure of Alphabet Inc. Mr.Page is likely to work along with Sergey Brin, the co-founder of Google in 1998. Though the parent entity will be Alphabet, it will house several other business that were so far been supervised by Google. And Google will be the biggest of its subsidiaries. And what's more! The subsidiary portfolio of Alphabet Inc. will be composed of the big shots like Nest, the smart-thermostat maker, and Calico, a company focused on longevity.

And to handle the sprawl of Google's extended business, this is indeed the most happening step adopted on the Google's part. Moreover, the growing competition with the other technology companies like Facebook and Amazon, also made Google take such an amazing step.

While these tech companies started on with a single business like online bookselling or a social network, recently, they have diversified their businesses in the fields like cloud computing, photo sharing and even satellites. Such a step on Google's part is also the need of the hour. And according to the authorities, such a step on Google's part will help it continue with its diverse business in a more streamlined manner.
